Public-private partnerships – rural territorial development challenges in Latin America

Over the last decade, SOS Faim has worked with its Latin American partners on a new strategy to curb rural poverty – rural territorial development (RTD). RTD can be defined as a means for organising and building consensus between public and private actors (e.g. Farmers Organizations) in a given territory in order to bring about lasting improvements in the economic and social conditions of its population.

This article presents the main components of this development strategy and the challenges it faces in Bolivia, Ecuador and Peru.
