APESS, Association pour la Promotion de l’Elevage en Savane et au Sahel

Our partnership with APESS was closed at the end of 2016.

The APESS is an association of livestock farmers, with members in 12 west and central African countries.

Mission: to help to improve the living conditions of livestock farmers in west and central Africa, in the context of the sustainable growth of the livestock rearing sector, by means of the promotion of a modern style of livestock farming, for a prosperous society.

Main activities: Development of financial services; creation of multi-actor platforms; support and advice for small-scale holdings; training; advocacy.

Results: drafting of a strategic guidance document which emphasises giving greater responsibility to member farmers and the importance of literacy and training for farmers and their children.

APESS and SOS Faim : in partnership since 2011. SOS Faim supports APESS in monitoring the performance of small holdings and in discussions on access to funding for its members.
